and Supply System of Water Resources Data: Water

Taiwan
is an island nation, approximately 150 km off the Chinese coast,
with an area of 36,000 km2 and a mean annual
rainfall of 2,500 mm. For this project, RITI Technology Inc.
designed a system that integrates water resource data from
several related
agencies to
promote
the automation
of data
production
and supply and to achieve the NGIS (The National GIS
Initiative) goal for data sharing. |
Via advanced
computing and network technology, this system improves the efficiency
of data collection, transmission, archiving and management.
It consists of three aspects of data : geographic information, water
resources data, and reservoir status. This system will become
an important tool for drought and flood prevention, water resource
planning and management, public water supply planning and implementation
and underground water resource planning.
